Challenge

gender @ Work India needed a website redesigned that was modern and reflected their branding efforts.

Gender at Work is a global NGO that operates at the intersection of gender and systemic transformation. Their India chapter approached me to redesign their website, aiming for a modern and welcoming look that would appeal to a younger audience. They already had a functional website hosted on Squarespace but wanted a complete overhaul to align with their rebranding efforts.

One of the primary challenges was restructuring the content from the previous website. The older site had an overwhelming number of menus and scattered information, which made navigation cumbersome. I simplified the structure, reducing the number of menus and creating an intuitive layout that is easy to navigate. The redesign also followed multiple WCAG standards to improve accessibility and ensure the site is responsive across devices, making it seamless to view on mobile as well as desktop

Goal

I created a user flow, restructured their information architecture, and coded everything from scratch.

The India team shared their new branding guidelines, which included an updated color palette, visual elements, and custom icons. These were incorporated into the design to ensure consistency with their brand identity.

The team at Gender at Work also wanted to include animations to make the website more engaging. These animations were designed in After Effects and integrated into the background to create a dynamic visual experience.
